We have an emergency button at our swimming pool and we are unsure if it works or not. This is for the plantation at saxonburg community. We have no idea where the call will go to. I wanted to see if you had anything on file that this would come to you. I will also call butler county 911 to check in with them. We want to make sure that it is working but do not want someone to think it is an emergency when we test it. thank you for all that you do! Troy McCurdy

I want to THANK all of the volunteer firefighters & ambulance personnel who acted so quickly during last night's pageant when the storm & possible tornado went thru!!!! You not only got everyone off of the carnival grounds to safety, but kept us safe until it was clear. You let the families that got separated know that their kids were in safe places, then reunited them quickly. A very special THANK YOU TO NICKY!!!! You helped keep everyone calm and informed while making sure everyone was in a safe place. My heartfelt THANK YOU TO ALL !!!

It was close to 50 years ago I attended your carnival not as one of the local citizens by as a helper to my Uncle Fred who was a carney back then. Home for me was Girard, Pa. But, the week I spent In Saxonburg with my Uncle and Grandfather was a time I'll always cherish.

Has the date been chosen for the 2014 Sportsman's Festival? I come down almost every year from Erie, and my brother comes from Annapolis, MD; there's no such thing as planning too far ahead! Please e-mail me the date when you can. THANKS!

I have been going to the Sportsmen's gun festival for several years. Always wonder why you never do a booth with baskets made up to take chances on? There are a lot of woman that come to the gun bash. Also a woman hunter suggestion even to have some woman's outdoor gear up on the main table to take chances on!! I feel it would be a money making venture for the Ladies Aux. and Firehall!!!

I ran into Patty Jo (Berckbigler) today and she mentioned that there is a memorial to my dad, Don Briggs on the website and I'd like to see it. I'm just not sure how to access it. Also, are you still looking for part-time bartenders for the club. I have a little experience - mostly pouring or opening beer, but I'm sure I can hold my own making drinks. Thanks.

This past June my family and I took a vacation through your area. We had the pleasure of being in town during your annual carnival. We had the greatest time. I am a firefighter paramedic D/O north of Dallas Texas. We are a combination fire department. It was great to see the brotherhood of your departments. All paid departments need to get back to the pride that is exhibited by volunteer departments. Keep up the good work, and stay safe. Train like your life depends on it.

My name is Richard Stewart and I'm the Awareness Coordinator for the Mesothelioma Center ( I was browsing through fire safety sites and I came across your website and was impressed by the information you have listed. I'm writing you because I thought you may be interested in including a link to our site on your page at We understand that fire safety websites are tasked with keeping the community safe. Thus, as a public service, we are teaming up with fire departments, colleges and universities, and fire safety websites to help educate about the dangers of asbestos and how to avoid it. This can include how to spot asbestos (pictures), common locations, how to test the air, and even asbestos information specific to your community. With more than 3,000 pages of content, our site features information on asbestos, mesothelioma, and other cancers that are caused by asbestos exposure. In addition our site has employed a full staff of writers dedicated to research and writing about asbestos exposure and the diseases that result from exposure to the toxic mineral. Please let me know if you are interested - I'm available by e-mail at rstewart(@) or at 407-434-0730. With your help, we can educate the public about the dangers of asbestos. well, its been almost 2 years since i retired from ambulance work and became a professional over the road truck driver. i have been in all 48 states,Alaska, 5 different provinces in Canada. i have met a lot of nice people along my travels while being out on the road. i have kept my EMT certification just in case i need it and i have had to pull over a few times at the scene of an accident and render my assistance to the injured.i have even made a few deliveries to the Medtec ambulance factory in Goshen where they build the "busses" it sure brings back many memories or running calls. i am thinking about coming out of retirement from firefighting and EMS work because i really do miss it a lot.

Just bgot on to your site while filling out my yearly Ambulance subscription. Like the site; very informative. Would like to know if there is any possibility of making the subscription payments to be made online in the future? Many people pay their bills online and this would be another safe way to pay this yearly payment also. Have been a member for about 10 years. Have only had to use your service one time, but the service received was well worth the yearly fee that has been spent in all that time. Keep up the good work!!!

I am the reigning Junior Miss Saxonburgh and have been enjoying my year going to different parades with the other titleholders. The deadline for the Saxonburgh pageants is fast approaching (May 10th.) I hope many girls will enter this years pageant. To begin with, the pageant has NO ENTRY FEE and each contestant receives a T-SHIRT, TROPHY, CARNIVAL PASS, and a GIFT BAG . The contestants will also participate in two parades, the pet parade and fireman’s parade. The whole week is a lot of fun and contestants will make new friends. I have been participating in the pageants for five years and each year I have had so much fun and most of the other contestants did too. The contestants who sell over a 1,000 dollars in ticket sales receive a $50 SAVINGS BOND. The pageants are a great experience for any girl between 6 and 18, a highlight of the summer to most.

I have been working the dunk tank (BoBo) in your town for about 5 years now. Our company has been there for quite a bit more then that. I would GUESS it was about 45 years ago that the boss ( my uncle) set his first hi striker there. We gave cigars to everyone who played :) At any rate, I enjoy being in your towm more then any other. I even met the someone who has become the most important person in my life. Not to mention a couple really good friends. Most towns, and State Fairs are riddled with jerks, and other... undesirable... people, yet I have always enjoyed having fun with the people in your area. Thanks to Carol for making it easy to be there... And to everyone for several years of GREAT fun. We look forward to being there this year, and I hope to be there in the future as well. All I can really say is: THANKS!!!

Nice site...I was raised in the Saxonburg area and visit there every now and then. I can remember going to the carnival when I was a kid. My uncle won a 1957 Lincoln Capri at the carnival and he always cherished the car. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

I would like to thank the fireman for letting us have the Miss Saxonburg pageant. If it wasn't for you guys/girls we would not have such a wonderful program thank you so MUCH. I am very proud to say that I am the new Miss Saxonburg 2004! I love repersenting Saxonburg, as I was also Junior Miss Saxonburg 2001 and Little Miss Saxonburg 1996. Thanks again! I look forward to going forth with my title this year!

I was wondering if you guys are planning a POKER NIGHT. I think it would attract a lot of people due to the rising interest of the Texas hold 'em tounaments on TV. It would bring in some money for the fire hall, because of the buy-ins that would be paid at the door. Let me know if this is an idea worth looking into further, I would love to help orginize it.

Hi All, Yes it's me, you didn't think you'd get rid of me THAT easily, did you?? I am enjoying the city life here in Monroeville. I am very saddened to hear about Ray passing, I am sure the Station is empty without his morning sitting around drinkin' coffee and complainin' days. Yes, they still allow me to treat patients, can you believe it?!?!? I miss all of you (even though I am sure it's not sentimented) I had some good times there..Take care...maybe see you someday around, you NEVER can tell!!!

Hello to everyone at Saxonburg VFC. I was really sorry to hear about "Uncle Ray" Zitzman's passing on. He was a great person and I enjoyed many hours of his humor and stories while doing ambulance duty at your station. I can only smile when thinking about him. He most assuredly has a crowd around him right now telling them stories about the "life and times" of Saxonburg VFC. Next time that I come home to visit from Reno, NV I will stop by and maybe hear or share a few stories about Ray. Wish I could have been there to pay my respects. By the way, I am involved in search and rescue way out here in the wild west. If anyone is interested in learning more about SAR we have an excellent website at Thanks and good-luck to all.
